Gradient Selected Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 CEE Integrated Home Competition

We are honored to announce Gradient’s All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump was selected as the Grand Prize Winner in the 2024 CEE Integrated Home Competition

About the Integrated Home Competition

Created in 2021 by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), The Integrated Home Competition identifies and supports newly available products that will work to achieve CEE’s vision of a comfortable, convenient, connected home.

The 2024 entries were evaluated by a Judging Panel of eight with expertise in energy efficiency program administration, usability, interoperability, experimental design, product installation, specific technology performance, and sales.

When choosing the Gradient All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump as the Grand Prize Winner, the panel remarked, “This product has everything the judges were looking for including controllability, high potential for energy efficiency and homeowner savings, and forthcoming BACnet optionality. The bidirectional supply vent design is innovative and unique, and the potential for demand response integration is fantastic. Judges were excited about the semi-permanent installation, allowing the All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump to be installed year-round for both heating and cooling purposes.”

Winning the 2024 Integrated Home Competition

We built the All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump to break down barriers to installing high-efficiency heat pumps. Our goal is to make comfortable homes accessible to everyone, especially frontline communities and Low and Moderate-Income (LMI) communities that are often underserved by heat pump products. We’re thrilled that the judging committee has recognized that value with this award.

As the Grand Prize Winner of the CEE Integrated Home Competition, Gradient was invited to speak to the CEE membership, which includes U.S. and Canadian natural gas and electric efficiency program administrators, at CEE’s Industry Partners Meeting. The Gradient All-Weather 120V Window Heat Pump is showcased on the Integrated Home Competition website, at relevant trade shows, and promoted by select CEE member energy efficiency program administrators through local offerings.

What’s Next

Honors like this one enable Gradient to be the first cost-effective decarbonization solution for customers like NYCHA, who have been plagued by the unreliability of old boilers and radiators, and for whom increased heat waves are driving the conversation around air conditioning as a public health necessity. In this application, the Gradient All-Weather 120V has proven to be the lowest cost solution, to significantly reduce energy bills, and also increase resident comfort and satisfaction.

This award not only recognizes the innovation behind Gradient’s second product but also signals a step forward for the entire heat pump industry as we collectively work to make energy efficient solutions more accessible. As we continue to scale, this recognition from CEE will help drive adoption and contribute to the ongoing shift toward a more sustainable, energy-efficient future.

Gradient Accepted into NYC Accelerator Program

We are proud to announce that Gradient has been accepted into the NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program!

NYC Accelerator is a program of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice that is designed to put building owners and managers on a pathway to decarbonizing the city while building healthier, safer communities. The program provides free resources, training, and one-on-one expert guidance to help building owners and industry professionals improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions from buildings in NYC.

Helping NYC achieve carbon neutrality by 2050

Nearly 70% of New York City’s carbon emissions come from its many buildings, but the city is on a pathway to carbon neutrality by 2050.

In 2022, Gradient was named a winner in the Clean Heat for All Challenge, launched by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Under the award, Gradient will provide 10,000 window heat pumps to NYCHA residents. Installations are already underway.

We are honored to expand our efforts as members of the NYC Accelerator Service Provider Program, providing window heat pumps that support projects to reduce energy and contribute to the decarbonization of NYC and build healthier, safer communities.
