This winter, Gradient’s technology will be piloted in model homes in New Orleans, setting a new benchmark for housing standards in the city.
We’re thrilled to announce that Gradient has been chosen as one of the four winners of the Resilient New Orleans Innovation Challenge! This initiative focuses on the future of housing by integrating advanced technology to create affordable, resilient homes. Recognized as one of the distinguished winners from a competitive pool of 34 applicants, Gradient is honored to join in this commitment to shaping the future of communities in New Orleans.
About the Resilient New Orleans Challenge
The Resilient New Orleans Innovation Challenge, led by Finance New Orleans (FNO), is a visionary project to revolutionize home construction in the region and develop well-built homes that can withstand environmental challenges. Finance New Orleans’ goal is to reduce a building’s embodied carbon, enhance resilience to wind and flooding, improve indoor air quality, and decrease energy consumption.
This challenge will serve as a blueprint for creating well-constructed, climate-resilient, and affordable single-family homes for future developments in New Orleans and beyond.
Winning the Resilient New Orleans Challenge
As a winner of this challenge, Gradient gains tailored access to the FNO and Elemental ecosystems, connecting with financiers, national developers, investors, and public financing agencies. This collaborative effort aims to create a ripple effect, promoting the adoption of resilient housing practices. This winter, our technology will be piloted in up to seven model homes, setting a new benchmark for housing standards in New Orleans.
These 3-bedroom, single-family homes will address the urgent need for sustainable and durable living spaces in our community.
Beyond the pilot project, we’re eager to collaborate with the New Orleans community to create an even greater impact.
Our Path Forward
By supporting the implementation of cutting-edge solutions, this Challenge fosters technological advancements in the housing sector.
By Fall 2024/Early 2025, we aim to have our technology deployed at one site, with plans to expand to 5-6 additional sites throughout 2025. Each pilot site will serve as a model for the future of resilient housing, emphasizing both affordability and the ability to withstand environmental stresses.
We’re honored to be part of this transformative project and are excited to contribute to building a brighter, more resilient future for New Orleans.
Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey!
